The Barnardos Parenting Outreach Program is seeking volunteer home visitors to help support parents with young children.   With training and ongoing guidance, volunteers dedicate up to three hours per week providing practical and emotional support to parents with young children.

Volunteers commit up to three hours per week for a period of twelve months.    Applicants must provide references, and be willing to undergo a police check.

Please call for details of the next information session, or to register your interest.

Barnardos is Australia's leading children's charity, providing services that successfully help prevent and reverse the effects of abuse, neglect and homelessness on children and young people.

One such service is offered through the Parenting Outreach Program (POP).    POP offers assistance to families with a range of needs.    High needs families, work with caseworkers, whilst families with more moderate needs, are supported by volunteers.

A volunteer's role is to provide a family, practical and emotional support.    Depending on circumstance, that support will vary in nature.  For example, a volunteer matched with a young single mother, may find that the support she really needs, is some adult company to help break the social isolation.    Another family with many children and no car, might most appreciate help with the weekly shopping trip.    Needs vary from family to family.
