Volunteer Programs


*     Parent Support and Friendship Visitor


Duties include:


Visiting a parent in their own home for a relaxed 'chat and a cuppa';


Nursing, playing with or reading to children while the parent feeds or attends to other children - providing 'another pair of hands';


To encourage the client to contact Communities@Work if their needs change, of it they require further support beyond the agreed 'Volunteering Arrangement'.


*     Transport Driver


Duties include:


Picking up a client from their home;  driving them to their medical or social appointment;  and returning them home;


Assisting the client into and out of your car if required;


If the client uses mobility aids, place such items in your car when transporting the client, and ensure they are available to the cient upon their exit from your car;


Assist the client into/out of the venue of their appointment, if required;


Support the client in a friendly and caring manner;


Encourage the client to contact Communities@Work if their needs change, or if they require further support or assistance beyond your agreed role as a volunteer.


*     Friendship Visitor


Duties include:


Visiting the elderly or socially isolated person in their own home for a relaxed 'chat and a cuppa';


Taking the person on occasional outings in your own car;


Taking the person to social groups they like to attend;


To encourage the client to contact Communities@Work if their needs change, of if they require further support beyond your agreed role as a volunteer.


*     Shopping Helper


Duties include:


Picking up a client from their home;  driving them to their local shopping centre;  and returning them home;


Driving;


Helping a client while they do their shopping, bill paying and banking, if required;


If the client uses mobility aids, place such items in your car when transporting the client, and ensure they are available to the client upon their exit;


Provide other assistance to the client as required, including rest-breaks;


Encourage the client to contact Communities@Work if their needs change, or it they require further support beyond your agreed role as a volunteer.


*     Sing-A-Long Assistant


Duties include:


Provide transport for the group's clients to and from the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Club;


Help provide a cheerful, friendly and relaxed atmosphere;


Help to hand out name badges, raffle and bingo tickets, and tick off names of people attending the Sing-A-Long;


Help in setting up and packing away the group's resources;


Assist client as required;


Work in a team.
