Raja's office is located in Mitchell, and they also have stand-alone properties in the West Belconnen and Gunghalin areas.

Raja currently manages seven properties, and will be acquiring another five homes within the next few months.   These houses are head-leased through the ACT Department of Housing and Community Services.

Raja consists of a coordinator, five Family Support Workers, an Office Manager, and a Finance Officer.  The team works together to deliver a coordinated quality service, through a case management model, to both residential and outreach clients who are on their waiting list.

To be eligible for the service, families must be homeless or at risk of homelessness;  have some care of their children;  accept case management with Raja workers;  and be self-managing.

Raja has an understanding of families that is broad, and includes any partnership of adults (inclusive of same sex, opposite and other sexed), or any single adult with children in his or her care.

Accommodation is short to medium-term, and clients need to demonstrate that they are actively seeking long-term accommodation, preferably through ACT Housing.

Raja has commenced a weekly Exploring Creativity Group for women, which combines art/craft activities, with pampering treatments.   This group is held on Thursday mornings, and is open to all women.  Childcare is provided.   Child and teenage groups are also in the planning stage.

Raja operates from social justice principles of empowerment, self-determination, respect and equality, and works to enhance the quality

of life of all its clients.  Staff are also guided by narrative and feminist philosophies, recognising the social and political context of people's lives, and the inherent power imbalances in society.   Narrative workers centre people as experts in their own lives, and seek to take a respectful, non-blaming approach.

Raja staff assume that people have many skills, competencies, values, beliefs, commitments, and abilities, that assist them in reducing the influence of problems in their lives.
