Join an exciting team of more than 60 volunteers in the ACT Salvos Stores Retail Network.


You'll be surprised!   Whether you have a passion for restoring furniture;  an eye for detail;  or a gift for dealing with people, here's where your unique skills will be greatly welcomed and appreciated.


What are Salvos Stores?


Salvos Stores are run by The Salvation Army in NSW, ACT and Queensland, selling a wide variety of donated recycled goods and some selected new products at inexpensive prices.   This means that customers can buy things affordably, and it benefits the environment by reducing waste.   Because the Salvos are a Christian based, not-for-profit organisation, all money raised, help to fund the Salvos' vital work throughout the community.


Mission Statement


Salvos Stores is committed to continually develop and provide our Retail Customers with goods at affordable prices;  thereby assisting The Salvation Army to more effectively Mobilise for Mission.


Vision Statement


Salvos Stores, a business unit of The Salvation Army, an international movement and evangelical branch of the Christian Church, will maintain its leadership position in the charity recycling service in Australia Eastern through:


1.     Commitment to providing all services in harmony with Christian principles.


2.     Assisting financially vulnerable and the marginalised members of our community by providing reasonably priced, quality used clothing, furniture and other household goods.


3.     Salvos Stores, in association with The Salvation Army Community Services, will supply free of charge clothing and household goods to individuals and families referred by authorized welfare officers who have properly assessed the needs of their clients.


4.     Protection of the environment by reducing the quantity of textiles and household goods delivered to landfill, and by providing industry recycle cleaning materials.


5.     Providing a "work environment" for volunteers, rehabilitation/recovery program for addicted clients, work for the dole, and community services order persons.


6.     Providing a substantial financial surplus each year to Salvation Army Corps and Centre programs through Territorial Headquarters General Fund.

Serving customers;

Answering telephones;

Repairing or cleaning furniture;

Sorting clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, books;

Stocking shelves;

Assisting with tagging and pricing of donations;

Office administration assistance;

Truck drivers or assistants for collections and deliveries of donations.


Positive Rewards


As a Salvos Stores volunteer, you'll be joining a friendly, caring group of fellow volunteers who give their spare time to help the Salvos.   You'll also have the satisfaction of knowing you are using your talents in a positive, creative way.   You will be placed in the area best suited to your skills, and every volunteer is offered training.
