What do our volunteers do? Snowy Hydro SouthCare currently has many volunteers who donate their time and energy to support fundraising and public relations activities for the helicopter service. Our volunteers frequently help out at our school visits, helping secure the landing area, and giving students a hand in and out of the helicopter. There are opportunities to use skills such as event organising, computers, photography, even wearing the mascot suit, in fact, there are many skills which can support the important job of raising funds for the Service. Each year the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Fund holds a Gala Dinner and Auction, which is the premier fundraising event of the year. Volunteers are vital to the smooth running of the night, helping with the set up and the auctions. Our volunteers also help out at the annual Snowy Hydro SouthCare Base Open Day, where Canberrans can come and see the helicopter up close, talk to the crew, and bring their families for a fun day out. What is in it for you? The rewards for volunteers are boundless, not only do you meet others with a similar interest in helping the community, but you can feel proud, that every time you see the red, green and white machine fly overhead, your support has meant the patient inside will get the best of care. Snowy Hydro SouthCare also runs a Volunteer Recognition program, and an Ambassador Award program, for those who go above and beyond for the Service. How do I become a volunteer?
